Whereas some major retailers are finding the current economic environment challenging, Lacoste have found the situation somewhat beneficial and I’m sure other retailers will have had similar results. These results have been achieved however with the help of the UK Governments Furlough scheme.
During the lockdown period with store closures up and down the length of the country any retailer without a strong online presence would find themselves missing out somewhat. Having successfully completed our first store fit-out project for Lacoste in Portsmouth following lockdown, and speaking closely and openly about their current business opportunities.
It was encouraging to hear that their business had actually moved forward rather than stall or move into losses over the period. Their online trade was such a success that they were able to pinpoint areas in the UK where their online sales were high but had no physical store offer in the area. Lacoste are now talking to us about potential new store openings in the UK following the successful project completed in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. Negotiations have started for new stores in Wembley Outlet and the Icon Outlet at the O2.
